Maps and Stats:
After paying my first ever visit to Round Valley Regional Preserve the day before, I had a good opportunity to visit again due to it being a City Council night (meeting starts at 7 PM). Having taken around 1 1/2 hours the day before to complete the loop at a leisurely pace which included a side trip up to the high point inside the loop, I knew that I would have to make sure I kept up a better pace today in order to make sure I was back to work in time for the meeting.

I left work a bit after 5 PM, and it took about 15 minutes to arrive at the parking lot. I changed my clothes in the restroom, and got started at about 5:20. I did not bother taking pictures, being in a hurry and all. I went in the counter clockwise direction this time, heading off to the right which is very gentle for the first mile+ until you connect with the steeper trail heading uphill. I made it to the trail highpoint by 6 PM, and this time I didn't bother making the 5 to 10 minute trip up the hill to the highpoint within the loop. Following the trail around I jogged most of the way down, since the grade was moderate and conducive to such a pace. It took about 25 minutes to get down, for a RT time of just under 1:05. Total distance of 4.6 miles and about 1,000 feet of gain. I had plenty of time after changing, enough so that I stopped off at Jamba Juice and still had time to burn once I returned back to City Hall. I'm really happy to have discovered this park, am grateful it is free (unlike nearby Los Vaqueros), and will be back with some frequency until the summer heat arrives. Its nice to have a little training area so close to work!
