As I write this trip report it is December 2014, a little more than 2 years after this hike. I didn't start the mountainhiker.org website until early 2013, and have focused on keeping up with all hikes as they happen. This, and the fact that this was my 17th completion of the 4 summits hike will undoubtedly result in some foggy memories.

This hike to Mt. Diablo and the 4 summits (Olympia/North/Diablo/Eagle) was the 11th hike I had done with Kyle and only his second time up to these peaks. We started off at the Regency TH, and took Donner Canyon up towards Mt. Olympia where we arrived at 11:45. From there we descended a bit to the North Peak trail, taking that up to North Peak where we arrived at 12:30. Next up was the Diablo main summit, with an arrival time of 1:35. I had recently discovered the fun little Devil's Pulpit which is an easy hike around the back side of Diablo. Kyle took some pictures of me heading on up and standing on top of what looks like something a lot more challenging than it actually is. Fun, to be sure, but difficult it is not. Finally we made our way over to Eagle Peak, where we arrived at 3:50. This location offers fine views back towards the other 3 summits. From there we descended, making for a total trip of 16 miles/5,000 feet of gain in 7 1/2 hours.
